Faux Suede & Fleece Dog Beds with Smart Fill

  We, at Big Shrimpy, have filled our beds with recycled polyester fleece scraps since our beginning nearly six years ago.

For the past few years, however, we have been challenged with finding adequate supplies of fleece scraps to meet the growing demand for our environmentally friendly beds.

Our growth led us to search for another clean, recyclable waste product that would provide similar or even better filling qualities as our fleece scraps. We have found it with SmartFill™.

SmartFill is a clean polyester fiber that is diverted from a waste stream and used in Big Shrimpy beds without having to reprocess it.  

Other "recycled" fibers have gone through many high-energy processes to melt the waste material, "pelletize" it, trasport it to a factory and then reform it into a new material.  This high use of energy, and thus large carbon footprint, is avoided with SmartFill.  It is truly green, as it goes from a clean waste stream directly into our beds.

SmartFill consists of individual tufts of fiber, rather than thousands of intertwined fibers, so it can be washed and dried without creating a twisted and knotted mess.

Recycled fiber – Big Shrimpy beds filled with SmartFill remain a sensible and practical solution for your customers interested in “green” products.

Machine washable and dryable – You can still offer a bed for which all components, including the SmartFill, can be thoroughly cleaned to remove dirt and odors.

Support – SmartFill has a density similar to that of our fleece scraps, so our beds will continue to feel very substantial. We make beds, not pillows!

Loft – Many beds contain an intertwined fiber filling that twists upon itself when washed. SmartFill is made of individual tufts of fiber, which retain their form, so the loft of our beds can be restored by washing the SmartFill.

Your Choice of Faux Suede* or Polyester Fleece Sleeping Surface

Sturdy, odor- and water-resistant, the Original Bed looks handsome in any living room or den.

The zippered outer cover of our Original Bed combines water-resistant 420 denier nylon packcloth with your choice of a faux suede sleeping surface or a soft polyester fleece sleeping surface.

This outer cover surrounds an inner cushion made of ripstop nylon. The Original is filled with SmartFill, Big Shrimpy's washable and dryable recycled polyester filling. Because of this, Big Shrimpy beds can be completely deconstructed, washed, dried and rebuilt allowing you to refresh the bed entirely.

Although the inner cushion is odor and water-resistant, it can be unzipped to remove and wash/dry the SmartFill if necessary. All the components of the Original Bed are machine washable and dryable, including the outer cover and inner cushions. These design features extend the life of the bed.

Outer Covers and Inner Cushions can be purchased separately, allowing a pet owner to simply replace components when needed instead of discarding the entire bed.

Our Landing Pad™ is sleek in appearance yet versatile in function. Its slim profile allows for easy transport, and the tough 420 denier nylon floor allows this pad to be used almost anywhere.

The Landing Pad™ features a plush faux suede sleeping surface and handsome nylon trim around the outer edge.

The easily removable four-ply cushion is made with 100% recycled polyester fibers. All components of this pad can be machine washed and dried, including the inner cushion.
